#WHAS100 π§ Radioactive radio rebels rock! Meet Mandy, Mo, Di, Joe, Bob, Johnny Z, and Adolph!
WHAS is the most powerful radio signal in Kentucky. It can be streamed worldwide but its over-the-air signal pierces atop most of the contiguous 48 United States. WHAS Radio will turn 100 next July, pumping out news, interviews, and information 24/7. Whether we're talking to Dr. Dunkenstein, Dr. Fauci, or Dr. Pepper, we are delivering audio and video content to keep our community informed. Thanks for hanging with us for our first century! That's our boy Ian Vertrees above. He's a deejay on WQMF and the daily producer and voice contributor on the Terry Meiners Show. Facing heat from #BlackLivesMatter, cops, citizens, and business owners, Louisville Mayor Greg Fischer joins me to talk about the city’s unprecedented upheaval
Today would have been Breonna Taylor's 27th birthday. She's dead. On March 13, LMPD officers shot her in her apartment after activating a no-knock warrant in search of someone who was not there. Breonna's boyfriend Kenneth Walker awoke from the police invasion and shot at what he thought were burglars. Police returned fire, wounding Walker and killing Taylor. Thousands of protesters have taken to the streets to honor Breonna in a movement launched following the Minneapolis police killing of George Floyd. Four police officers have been arrested over Floyd's death but none of the Louisville officers have been charged in the killing of Breonna Taylor. Louisville Mayor Greg Fischer appeared on the radio with me tonight to answer questions about the protests, Breonna's
Louisville’s Raanan Hershberg crushes it on CBS’ Late Late Show with James Corden
One of my favorite recurring guests on 840WHAS is Louisville comedian Raanan Hershberg. He's been on the radio with me for years and always bring fresh material. It was fun to see him on CBS the other night delivering a lot of the jokes that he honed on the radio or onstage at The Bard's Town theater. Way to go, Raanan. Outstanding job! Thanks buddy! I Honed all the jokes on your show. See yah soon— Raanan Hershberg (@Raanancomedy) January 15, 2020 Here's our most recent radio interview on 840WHAS.
Slowed audio of Papa John Schnatter captivates the Internet: “I’ve had over 40 pizzas in the last 30 days”
The Papa John interview is lovely pic.twitter.com/bpDMDm9t9G— Timothy Burke (@bubbaprog) November 26, 2019 Louisville's beleaguered businessman "Papa" John Schnatter is still flailing at the ghosts of his previous life. Schnatter was famously removed from his chairman/CEO position at Papa John's International and has been forced to diminish his majority ownership position after a series of caustic verbal missteps. In 2012, Schnatter created a "clueless rich guy" backlash after he bemoaned the costs of providing employee health care. A few years later, Schnatter insulted NFL players who were kneeling during national anthem performances to protest police brutality. He lost his CEO position but remained chairman. The final and most explosive meltdown came after Schnatter said the N-word on a 2018 diversity training
Louisville’s got that going for us, which is nice
A flood of Bill Murray sightings popped onto social media this week. The actor known as being the most chill celebrity in the world spends time in Louisville with his son Luke, a top recruiter and assistant coach for University of Louisville men's basketball. Luke and his wife Kara are expecting their second child soon. Murray loves visiting his son's family, even handing out Halloween candy at their home last October. This week, Louisville's head basketball coach Chris Mack hosted an old guy basketball camp complete with competition, film breakdown, celebrity guests like Bill Murray and Jay Bilas, and a championship game. Even though I wore a uniform, I played the role of general manager for some of my much younger colleagues like

Yarmuth reported that the housing situation was clean and lightly inhabited, a scenario he suspected had been tidied up before the arrival of the congressional delegation. Yarmuth also talked about the shocking specter of debating Democrats trashing Barack Obama for not being "woke" enough during his 8 years in the presidency. Many of the current presidential hopefuls are going to extreme measures
Does the Pitino lawsuit create ongoing strife for the school and its fan base?
Rick Pitino is mad at me again. The former University of Louisville basketball coach and I are longtime friends but he has thrown hissy fits when I've publicly questioned him about sensitive issues. He even dropped me as co-host of his TV show for two years over tensions surrounding coverage of his affair with sketchy doughnut seller Karen Sypher. Then there was the time I asked him if mounting evidence of strippers offering sex to his players and recruits would make him consider resigning. Pitino didn't speak to me for a year and even avoided looking at me when we crossed paths in our St. Matthews neighborhood. Of course, I've gone on national TV and newspapers of record to defend Pitino
