ZZ Top’s Dusty Hill dies 10 days after his last performance in Louisville 🎸🎸

ZZ Top played a sold out show at Louisville’s Iroquois Amphitheater on July 18. Bassist/vocalist Dusty Hill sat on a speaker stack for much of the show, forgoing the usual choreographed guitar swaying movements with bandmate Billy Gibbons. 🎸🎸

The next scheduled show, July 21st in Evansville, Indiana was canceled without explanation. Then the band’s website posted this hopeful message about a quick return for the ailing Dusty Hill.

On July 28, ZZ Top’s social media posted this sobering message:

“We are saddened by the news today that our Compadre, Dusty Hill, has passed away in his sleep at home in Houston, TX.

We, along with legions of ZZ Top fans around the world, will miss your steadfast presence, your good nature and enduring commitment to providing that monumental bottom to the ‘Top’. We will forever be connected to that “Blues Shuffle in C.”

You will be missed greatly, amigo.

There’s no word yet on when the band’s pandemic-delayed 50th Anniversary Tour will continue.

RIP, Dusty. It was a phenomenal ride. 🎸🎸
