⛳ Wade Hampton golf course is prettier than Augusta. Fight me.

I just spent a few days on the Wade Hampton golf club course near Cashiers, North Carolina. This Tom Fazio design is stunning with every sight line. The fairways and greens are exceedingly challenging and immaculate.

I’ve been lucky enough to play Augusta National on consecutive days, too, and I found the Wade Hampton experience superior. Augusta has incredible golf history but WADE is numbingly beautiful. Wow!

The approach into #7
The #1 tee box features a Bobby Jones sundial, a gift from Augusta National. The statue in the background is dedicated to William McKee, whose family owned the land where Wade Hampton golf club was developed in the 1980s.

My tee shot into the par 3 eleventh hole almost forced me to buy drinks for everyone.
Dr. Juha Kokko was our host at Wade Hampton. He patiently awaited the putt analysis, the reset, the secondary look, the next reset, and ultimately the putt by Dr. Steve Carpenter. 🤣

On the first day I speared my drive into that first trap on the left. On day two: KAPOW! A perfect blast over the right hump and onto the dogleg right fairway!
Great to join these two hardworking doctors on another golf adventure. Bill Chey (Michigan) and Steve Carpenter (Georgia) are both highly respected GI docs.
