Joe Biden is sworn in as the 46th President of the United States

Joseph R. Biden, a former vice president and senator, was sworn in as the 46th President of the United States at 11:49 a.m.

President Biden immediately signed multiple executive orders reversing policies (immigration, travel bans, climate action) put into place by his predecessor President Donald Trump.

The Bidens prepare to enter the White House as First Couple

Before the Bidens officially entered the White House as the new First Couple, there was a brief walk down Pennsylvania Avenue. Attendance was extremely limited due to the coronavirus pandemic.

The new Vice President of the United States Kamala Harris also walked the route.

Lady Gaga won the day on the entertainment front. Her rendition of The Star Spangled Banner was magnificent.

Three former presidents attended the inauguration ceremony. An additional event brought them together with President Biden and Vice President Harris at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier in Arlington National Cemetery.

A 90 minute TV show “Celebrating America” ran on all the networks and featured President Biden and Vice President Harris with live speaking roles mixed in among the entertainment.

Bruce Springsteen performed live from the steps of the Lincoln Memorial

Bruce Springsteen opened the show but performances by John Legend, Justin Timberlake, Katy Perry, Tim McGraw and others were all eye-popping successes. Great show!

Fireworks filled the skies around the Capitol as Katy Perry sang her hit Firework to close the show.

Former Louisville Mayor for Life Jerry Abramson, who also worked in the Obama/Biden administration, joined me on 840WHAS to talk about the new president’s skill set.

Oh, and Bill Clinton fell asleep during the inauguration.

Close up.

Well played, William.

God Bless America.
