Drawing conclusions both left and right, black and white
The cartoon below from Joel Pett of the Lexington Herald-Leader created quite an uproar over the reference to Governor-elect Matt Bevin's children, four of whom are adopted African Americans from Ethiopia. MY RADIO INTERVIEW WITH JOEL PETT HERE --- Mr. Pett said he has no preconceived agenda for drawing future cartoons about soon-to-be Governor Bevin. The governor-elect issued a strong response: Statement from Governor-Elect Matt Bevin Regarding the Lexington Herald-Leader Cartoon Frankfort, KY - The following is a statement from Governor-Elect Matt Bevin regarding the cartoon by Joel Pett published in today's Lexington Herald-Leader: "They say a picture is worth a thousand words. Indeed, today, the Lexington Herald-Leader chose to articulate with great clarity the deplorably racist ideology of "cartoonist", Joel

Charlie Brown heads to the pokey while his buddies hokey pokey
On the week that the new Peanuts movie hit theaters, the old Charlie Brown made some news. The guy who voiced Charlie Brown's lines in those classic animated holiday specials is now an angry, demented 59-year-old named Peter Robbins. He threatened a former girlfriend two years ago and is now pleading guilty to threatening two more people. Thank God that Lucy didn't marry this maniac. Please enjoy 10 hours of the Peanuts gang dancing to Vince Gueraldi's classic "Linus & Lucy" theme used in the TV specials.
Friday the 13th fascist or fool quiz
What say you, Jihadi John? Oh, that's right. The Karma train arrived on Friday the 13th. Never mind. But tell Osama we said hey! Duuuuuuuuude! Jason wears a hockey mask. You totally gave away your position to the U.S. military with that school girl face scarf. Enjoy the hand basket ride! Buh-bye!
A Harlan who sings like a Darlin’
The incredible Jordan Smith is crushing it on NBC's The Voice. The Harlan, Kentucky native is the inevitable winner of this season's singing competition. No one else comes close to matching his talent.

As the final Hunger Games film hits theaters, Jennifer Lawrence is rocketing forward with multiple major films ahead. I suspect that her next Academy Award nomination will come from the Steven Spielberg film where Jen plays kidnapped war photographer Lynsey Addario. That film, based on Addario's book "I Do What I Do," is tentatively set to launch production in 2016. That video is still hilarious and sad. It's hilarious to see Louisville's Jennifer Lawrence handle odd moments with grace and humor. And it's sad to see then 75-year-old Jack Nicholson hitting on a then 22-year-old in front of network TV cameras.

A former executive at Louisville's Yum Brands has been fired after video surfaced showing him assaulting Uber driver Edward Caban in California. Benjamin Golden, who worked in investor relations for Yum before taking a marketing position with the company's Taco Bell division, beat the driver who asked him to get out of the car due to Golden's state of inebriation. Golden, 32, has been described as "a really nice person" by Louisville co-workers. Yum Brands has reportedly offered to pay for Golden's post-employment therapy for anger management. Uber offered to pay to clean Caban's car after he pepper sprayed the abusive customer. Caban says he is finished working as a driver for the ride-sharing service.
