The New York Times released a video simulation and multiple reports recapping the shooting of Breonna Taylor by Louisville Metro Police Department officers last March. It is compelling on many fronts and illustrates the tragedy of Taylor's death juxtaposed with the challenges for law enforcement  safely serving warrants. No cameras captured the final minutes of Breonna Taylor’s life. We used crime scene evidence and testimony to reconstruct what happened and show the mistakes that led to her killing by police. Times report offers a comprehensive recap but most people made up their minds about Breonna, Black Lives Matter, police, and the justice system months ago. The comments thread

Louisville leaders react to the arrest of NFAC leader Grandmaster Jay
Louisville Mayor Greg Fischer declared racism a public health crisis in his city. Fox News talk show host Tucker Carlson claims Fischer is using an immeasurable noble cause to mask his failures as the city's chief executive. Mayor Fischer joined me on 840WHAS a few days later and we discussed Carlson's derision, plus the fresh news that Black militia leader Grandmaster Jay had been arrested for pointing an AR rifle at law enforcement. Many Black leaders feel that the arrest of the militia leader affirms law enforcement's systemic intimidation of minorities. .@louisvillemayor Greg Fischer responds to today's arrest of Grandmaster J, and says @TuckerCarlson is "grandstanding and ill-informed" for slamming his leadership. We also discussed #RacialJustice remedies, and his relationship with @JoeBiden
“Too many people went to sleep” during Obama’s second term, time to reawaken with Biden
Barack Obama has released a new book reflecting upon his two terms as President of the United States. In it, he lauds many accomplishments and critiques some issues that fell short. VOX book review "Again and again, he concludes he always made the best of a set of bad choices." With a Joe Biden presidency on the horizon, pundits are sounding alarms that America needs to awaken to recapture the spirit of the Obama era. Obama’s #APromisedLand shows how he got there & left most of his people behind. It shatters any lingering illusions of him being a fighting Joshua & shows his captivity to Wall Street greed, Pentagon militarism & refusal to confront massive black social misery & U.S. poverty! https://t.co/aV6njYZSll — Cornel
Hide yo kids. Hide yo wife. But don’t hide yo news video.
Let’s go to Dayton & see how things are going at the Dollar General pic.twitter.com/IXvOjdFoB3— Busted Coverage (@bustedcoverage) October 11, 2019 Armed man robs frequently robbed Dayton, Ohio store. Clerk shoots robber. Robber got off at least one shot but the clerk was unhurt. Robber stumbles to the outside of the store, collapses, and dies. Karma, right? Witnesses say the robber did indeed point a gun at the clerk. Stand your ground. Self defense. Kill or be killed. That's how rational people interpret a scenario like this. As the above tweet illustrates, the siblings of the robber are somehow incensed that the clerk had a weapon and say the clerk should have called police and "let them handle it." WHIO-TV aired the interview
MO FAUX TO GO — Jussie inspires another fake hate crime
An African American sixth grade girl created a media firestorm by claiming that three white classmates, all boys, bullied her and cut off her dreadlocks. Amari Allen's story was shouted from every media mountaintop as America was roiled in another racist horror story. Except that it never happened. After a few days of media hysteria and thorough investigation, the girl admitted that she made up the entire story. Instagram "self love ambassador" Derrick Jackson joked that the girl's dramatic lies were inspired by Jussie Smollett. He's the obscure actor who made up a ludicrous story about Trump supporters beating him at 2 AM in Chicago. Police investigated and discovered that Smollett arranged for a fake attack to generate publicity to raise his
Don’t call these black men African Americans. They’re Americans. Period.
Self-proclaimed "Factivist" 🙌🏾 Me’Shorn Daniels advocates for descendants of American slaves. He popped by my radio studio to illustrate how today's proposed reparations concepts are not properly focused. Me'Shorn's father Charles Daniels joined via telephone to give additional perspective. Both father and son feel that unity for all is attainable, and the first step is to end the COLOR (or RACE) designation on all government forms. Both men reject the term African-American, saying they are Americans with no connection to Africa. 🎙 LISTEN HERE #race #harmony #buildinglives #MAGTIEB = Make America Greater Than It's Ever Been pic.twitter.com/w5BKrq2uP9— Terry Meiners (@terrymeiners) July 26, 2019
Body cams tell the tale
Coming soon: a tribute website to police across America. Their frustrations are more evident than ever because body cams supply both sides of the story. As for the recent suggestion that Ferguson activists have been murdered, intense media scrutiny has not produced any conspiracy. There'll be no such intense media scrutiny of police deaths. That's why the public should be able to see newsroom cams. Shouldn't police tragedies earn equal media concern?
Greedy drama queen makes herself the victim after encountering autistic person
The headline above is a much more accurate reflection of this "story" generating millions of views online. As two people of color are awaiting the boarding process for a Southwest flight out of St. Louis, another woman of color, who is obviously on the autism spectrum, begins repeatedly telling them that they can be seated. The autistic person continues to say "there are seats over there, over there, over there." He repetition of the same phrases and over stimulated behavior make it obvious that she has mental disabilities. The African American woman who is being told that "there are seats over there" begins filming the autistic woman and then verbally taunts her while also claiming "I fear for my life." The filming
When Ricky is on, the WHAS call letters transform to WOKE
I love Dr. Ricky Jones. He brings passion to everything he does in life. He's black. I'm white. Neither one of us can totally grasp the other's challenges but our pigmentation certainly affords me an advantage in life. I can't fully change the trajectory of anyone's life; that's up to every person walking this earth. The one thing I can do is listen. And I do. During today's Ricky Jones radio appearance, a hateful person phoned my producer to declare that Ricky is an f-ing n-word. And this, my friends, is the crux of our societal woes. Racists slinging epithets instead of listening. A majority of people of all colors won't listen to anyone who doesn't
Bill Stokes, my brother from another mother
William Albert "Bill" Stokes died last week. My deepest condolences to his family and friends. Seven years ago, he taught me one of the most enlightening, compassionate lessons of my life at a moment when I was way out of my comfort zone. The day after he and I co-hosted a mostly improvisational show in front of an African American audience, I wrote this blog post. It was truly one of the greatest experiences of my life. ----------------- BACK IN BLACK I have always had an affinity for African American people. Their music always moved me more than the bland songs sung by white performers. Their distinctly different clothing choices made me want to be colorful like them instead of rigid and uniform
